We learned about how animals adapt to their environment. Most students thought the most interesting adaption in an animal was that an owl would use a prairie dogs hole to stay in instead of a tree. Another interesting adaption was that the cactuses cannot move so they hitch a ride on an animals fur so they can plant their seeds. Students definitely understood the need for a good habitat for animals but found it most interesting that coyotes have adapted to city life. I think that is because they may hear them at night. Please talk to your child about how adaption means change and habitat means the place an animal lives. They seem to have gotten the two confused. I will continue to talk with them about this also.
